RIM has responded to a claim, via Reuters, about battery life on their upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook tablet only lasting a “few hours” and delaying launch until May so that battery life can be improved. The company responded saying the analyst saw a pre-beta unit which didn’t have battery life optimized yet:
“Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented”
That’s in addition to saying development of the battery was on schedule, and it should have battery life comparable to competitors. The last we’ve heard of a launch date is somewhere around the end of February or the start of March.
