Asus Eee Pads Revealed: Transformer

Asus has been working hard behind the scenes, turning those Eee Pads first unveiled at Computex 2010 into four unique and distinct tablets, sporting a variety of form factors, specs, and operating systems. Perhaps more importantly, the Taiwan-based manufacturer, best known for popularizing the netbook, has grabbed early tablet headlines two days before CES 2011 officially opens on January 6th.

The four devices, which include the EP121 first unveiled last week, join the already-announced Asus Eee Note in the early 2011 Asus lineup, which, according to Asus Chairman Jonney Shih, "focus on the mastery of technological innovation and design perfection."

As a tablet, the Transformer gets approximately 8 hours of usage out of a single charge, and when docked, it can be used for up to 16 hours.

Under the hood, the Transformer will have an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a 16 GB or 32 GB solid state drive, 512 MB or 1 GB of system memory, and will also run Android OS 3.0. In addition, the Transformer will be equipped with a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera, HDMI out, and will be Bluetooth and b/g/n Wi-Fi-ready.
