Sony Ericsson Android phones

Sony Ericsson carved out a first for itself on Tuesday by becoming the first phone maker to use Facebook's single sign-on. All of its future Android phones will come with the official Facebook app and will give the option of using the sign-on during the phone's first-run setup process. There should also be integration beyond just the one app, the company's Business Director Martin Essl said.

The sign-on process is designed to help avoid multiple sign in processes or to have to drop out to a web browser to authorize an app.

Phones should get the update within the next two months. Essl didn't say which was first, but the Xperia Arc is likely to be the first and should soon be followed up by the Xperia Play. More details might emerge at Mobile World Congress in mid-February.
