Apple iPhone 5 release date delayed until September

September launch pegged for delayed iPhone 5 release

Apple’s upcoming revamp to its hugely successful range of iPhone smartphones has been postponed until September, new reports suggest.

Following reports earlier this week that the widely expected iPad 2 has been delayed until June, Apple appears to be facing further release issues as an industry analyst claims the mooted iPhone 5 will suffer a similar fate due to component shortages and late orders.

Expected to be heading for a June or July unveiling and launch, in-keeping with Apple’s previously strict annual product cycles, the highly anticipated iPhone 5 is now believed to be delayed until September with limited touchscreen panels tipped as being the responsible cause.

With touchscreen stocks affecting the demand availability of a number of leading smartphones, Craig Berger, an analyst at FBR Capital Markets has announced: "For the iPhone 5, we continue to hear that a July launch is unlikely, with various casing suppliers and touch suppliers still ramping up, with some chip vendors not having yet received firm iPhone 5 orders, and with other sockets like the image sensor... still in flux.

Expanding on these expected delays Berger added: "Given these factors, we think a September launch is more likely, off from Apple's traditional iPhone launch schedule, but giving the firm more time to enhance its next-generation instant communications on the phone."

Latest rumours surrounding the upcoming iPhone 5 release have seen the device predicted to host everything from NFC technologies and a slimmer form factor to having a white model launch alongside its black counterpart.
