Globe best practices in network technology and facilities

Globe Telecom welcomed international information and communications technology (ICT) dignitaries to its Network Operations Center (NOC) for a tour of its network management and monitoring systems.

The regional tour is part of the 6th South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) ICT Summit participated in by delegates from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. This year, SASEC embarks on an information highway project designed to build a regional network with fiber optic and data exchange capacity and establish a community information center that will serve 110 rural communities in the field of network research and training to enhance technical and business skills in ICT.

Globe houses a world-class, fully integrated NOC for both its fixed line and wireless businesses. Globe NOC is fully redundant and has physically diverse end-to-end operational support system (OSS) platforms across all product lines. Just recently, it completed its Phase 2 implementation with unified telecommunications provider and 2010 Frost and Sullivan OSS Vendor of the Year Clarity that will ensure network changes and modifications are managed effectively, guaranteeing data integrity and developing service assurance levels. The unified OSS in the Globe NOC will reduce operating costs, optimize infrastructure, reduce provisioning times and improve quality of service.

Our network is the backbone of our business. A strengthened NOC gives us an integrated view of our network technologies, providing us executive visibility and tighter service monitoring across our systems, allowing us to deliver a consistent superior experience to our customers,” said Manuel Lorico, Head for Fault and Configuration Management of Globe.

Through this visit, we were able to showcase our facilities to an international group for their regional connectivity project and share our milestones and best practices in the development of our NOC. We are pleased to be part of this important endeavor that will strengthen the ICT infrastructure of the four member countries of SASEC,” Lorico added.

Globe NOC manages its 12,000 base stations and over 6,500 cell sites all over the country.
