iPad 2 display revealed

Display points to thinner, slimmer iPad 2.

There’s a veritable smorgasbord of iPad 2 rumours out there. But as Apple gossip goes, few things are better than a parts leak. And the chaps at 9to5mac have dutifully obliged by purportedly laying their hands on the second-gen slate’s display.

The screen is apparently 1mm thinner, with the bezel stripped back from its current, rather capacious state. What’s more, the Mac-obsessed site has got the part number for the iPad 2 display: LP097X02-SLN1.

One wily user has done some sleuthing and claims the part number points to a 9.7-inch panel with a 1024x768 resolution. It’s yet more evidence that the iPad 2 will not come with a Retina Display as some had hoped.

There’s still no word on when we can expect an official iPad 2 announcement. But with this many leaks, surely it’s just a matter of weeks before Apple finally reveals all about its new tablet.
