Samsung Bada 2 to get multitasking, NFC, more



At the developer day held recently in South Korea, Samsung highlighted some of the features of its upcoming Bada 2.0 OS for smartphones. The operating system is currently in version 1.2 and was first introduced in the Wave. The update is coming next year and will bring with it Near Field Communication (NFC) support for payments, a new multitasking ability and support for Macs and Linux in the SDK.

LG's dual-core Star official as Optimus 2X



LG confirmed the existence of the Starearly tonight as it has brought out the phone in its native Korea as the Optimus 2X. The phone is the first to carry NVIDIA's 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 and can both play and capture 1080p video with its eight-megapixel camera. An HDMI output also makes it one of the first phones to have 1080p video output as well as advanced 3D gaming.

iPhone app processes images for colorblind users



Security researcher Dan Kaminsky has introduced a mobile app that processes images for users who suffer from red-green colorblindness. The utility, titled DanKam and available for iOS and Android, attempts to overcome the condition by processing images through several color-shifting schemes. Images can be taken in real-time from the device's camera.

Next iMac, MacBook Pro seen with redesigns in 1st-half 2011



Apple is planning refreshes of the iMac and MacBook Pro for the first half of 2011 that should include redesigns, part suppliers said Wednesday night. The iMac will reportedly get a "new panel size" and a "mainstream," presumably lower price to reach more users. Other details of the all-in-one weren't forthcoming from Digitimes' sources, although a jump to Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture for processors and newer graphics chips are both probable.

Apple mysteriously kills jailbreak detection API while hacker boosts iOS security, irony restored
